Children must have separate passports
The passport can no longer be obtained by power of attorney
Children under the age of 14 who travel abroad must have their own passports and they can no longer be included into their parents’ passports as before.
This is one of the changes brought by the Emergency Ordinance no. 207 of 4 December 2008, which amend the Law no. 248/2005 pertaining to the Romanian citizens’ regime of the free traveling abroad.
The second change refers to Romanian citizens who apply for a new passport. They must file their applications personally, both in the country and abroad, the possibility of obtaining the passport by power of attorney being eliminated
